Now that Spring is here, we're focused on leaving hibernation season behind and getting our skin beach-ready. Today, we're talking about dry brushing which is a way to help exfoliate our skin while adding other full-body benefits.
Apart from removing dead skin, dry brushing can offer several other solutions. It reduces cellulite by breaking down cells and toxins underneath the skin. By opening the pores, it encourages the body to release dirt, product residue and more. It helps stimulate the lymphatic system which is responsible for ridding the body of toxins. It also improves circulation to make sure our cells receive nutrients efficiently. An added perk to dry brushing is its relaxing effect; it can calm the nerves and reduce stress.
Before Dry Brushing
- Be sure the brush is made with natural bristles rather than synthetic which can irritate the skin
- Consider brushing in the shower or tub to have a place to collect dead skin
- Start from ankles, and in light, small strokes toward the heart, brush up the legs
- At stomach, make a clockwise motion around ribcage and under belly button
- Continue circular brushes around shoulders and chest area, being gentle around breasts or pecks
- Run brush up arms towards heart, along clavicles and neck

After Dry Brushing
- Bathe with warm water then rinse with cold to close the pores.
- Moisturize with an alcohol-free lotion, cream or oil
